I’m about to have my second ovulation for the 2018 season! My African “melted” female will be ovulating any day now. She was bred to my White Widow and my Sugar Silver Streak! Talk about exciting babies!

I can’t believe it’s already 2018! I’ve been so busy the last few weeks so it’s made the time fly by even more. I’ve had a lot of animals breeding and have been growing the rat colony quite substantially. It’s at the point now to where the rats are eating an entire bag of feed a day!
On the ball python front, I have several more females about to ovulate and I’m expecting my first clutch in February! So I’m really excited about that.
My book will be done soon. I’m expecting it to be finished sometime in early January. I will post a link here once it’s done!

There’s one project I’m super stoked about: my black stripes. These animals have solid or nearly solid black backs and look similar to clowns in that regard. This past summer, I hatched out quite a few black stripes from 4 different clutches. I’ve been producing these for a few years now, so I can definitely say without a doubt that it is a recessive mutation. I know it will do some crazy things in 2018 and 2019! In 2017, for example, I hatched not only black stripes and hets, but also axanthic black stripes and double hets!
I ended up with 2 male double visuals, 1 male black stripe het axanthic, 1 super pastel axanthic het black stripe, 1 super pastel double het, 3 male pastel double hets and quite a few single gene black stripes!
Axanthic and black stripe really go well together and compliment each other well. The male DOUBLE visual pictured here is truly stuning.
He’s just over 100 grams! He’s looking great.
And here’s a regular black stripe female for comparison:

This is one of the amazing animals I produced in 2017! He’s the largest hatching and I can’t wait to see what he does in the fall of 2018! He just shed and hid orange colors are starting to pop!

I wanted to say thank you to all my customers, readers, and everyone else who’s supported me this year with my dream of turning the snake breeding and sales into my day job! At the start of the year, my goal was to become a professional ball python breeder.
And guess what, I’ve done it in part because of everyone who’s purchased a snake from me! So for all the support I am very grateful and humbled. So many people have told me over the years I’d never be able to support myself with the snakes. Yet, I’ve made more this year than I would have if I was practicing law (I have a law degree, but have no interest in practicing).
