When the power goes out…

Posted: May 2, 2014 in Uncategorized

This past winter was brutal in South Carolina.  We had not one, but two ice storms. The second one was quite severe for most of the citizens of South Carolina.  It knocked power out for 5 days at my snake building.  And the outside temps were in the 30s and 40s for most of the power outage. My snake collection hovers right around 200 animals before eggs hatch every year. A power outage has always been the worst nightmare for me. Losing power could mean losing over 10 years worth of work pretty much over night. I love my snake collection very much and stride to provide my animals the very best care.

That’s why I invested in a generator last November.  It was by far the best investment I’ve ever made. Everything stayed as it normally was when the power was off. And the snakes bred like crazy….which is why I’m getting so many eggs this year!!!

The generator made the difference between life and death. Literally.  I’m glad I had the generator and gasoline prior to the power outage because there were no generators to be bought and the local gas stations ran out of gas on the second day.

Being prepared prevented a very bad situation that would have altered my life in an unimaginable way.

One of my long time customers brought their snakes to me during the ice storm because they had no way to keep them warm. Had I not been able to take in the snakes, their collection, which is quite highend, would have perished.

Don’t let mother nature destroy your investment in one night. Get a generator and hope you never use it.

But “what if” you do need it and don’t have it…..
